Art in the Park

This 'Lamb-banana' was on display yesterday at the Garden Festival in Congleton Park. This photo was taken before in true British summer weather it poured with rain - but the band played on! I had seen these installations in Liverpool last year when Graham and I had a trip to see the Klimt exhibition at The Tate. One in particular caught my eye in St Georges Hall chamber as it was lit with stars. I think they were the 'scouse' humour to genetic engineering! Originally I thought them a bit silly but they are growing on me.

Congleton Food and Drink Festival

The Steel Tempo band was playing in the middle of the town during Congleton Food and Drink Festival on Sunday. Their music brought back memories of my daughter's wedding on Barbados 10 years ago in 1999.

Tatton Park

With the wonderful weather continuing on Sunday I decided to hitch a lift on the bus with the Sunday Garden Group to Tatton Park near Knutsford. My aim was to walk in the extensive parkland created in the 18th century by Repton. On my approach to the Old Hall notices warned of 'loud bangs'! There I discovered a re-enactment of the American Civil War in progress. It all looked very familiar as we had toured sites in the Southern States on a holiday in 2001. Rode Hall Market

Bank holiday Monday we decided to visit Rode Hall gardens , situated a few miles from home and what a treat it was with the early rhododendrons and magnolias in bloom and only a handful of people around. In complete contrast to the monthly market there on the first Saturday in the month where there are about a thousand cars. This month we were entertained by the Black Dog Molly Dancers from where else but Stoke on Trent. I am thinking of entering this photo for a competition entitled 'Eccentric Britain'!

Calendar Girl!

This was the image I submitted to Congleton Museum calendar competition, after our day out on location with the U3A Photo group in June. The title is 'Caught in the rain' and it was

selected for the month of August in the calendar.
